For the past 5 months, whenever you mention to S’poreans about Channel U, they will discuss about Project Superstar. Gals will dream about their Prince Charming in the show while guys drool over the beauties.
One contestant they will definitely talk about will be Wei Lian, a visually impaired guy with a marvelous voice. Some people think that he became the champion of the male division because he got votes from people out of sympathy. I beg to differ. In my opinion, a Superstar should have a good voice and charisma. Don’t you agree, Wei Lian’s Fans?
What was my point? Am I only talking about the show? Not really.
Project Superstar accompanied me through the first few months of TP. Being a perfectionist and a worrywart, I was stressed as I would stutter during oral presentation and worried about t my English. At a point, I wanted to quit Law and Management.
Wei Lian’s bravery to join this singing competition, which is the apple of the media’s eye temporarily ( This gives them a lot of stuff to cover), touched me. I remember my tears rolling down my cheeks as I heard him sing. If he was brave, should I be braver to overcome this minor (to me, it seems to be a major at that point of time) obstacle?
Before watching the show, I was feeling presurrised because of my coming exams. As I wastched how Wei Lian and Kelly( the female champion for the female division) survived the competition, my mind switched on the sweet memories of TP I experienced. I might have regretted if I quit the course earlier.
Now back to Project Superstar. All 24 popular contestants are already winners when they emerged from the 4000 people who auditioned.
To Wei Lian and Kelly:
No matter who wins, shine as brightly as you can on your starry night.
To my favourite idols, Jun Yang and Sin Huey:
You guys had done your best. To us fans, you are our superstar. We hope to see you as newcomers to the music industry when we see you on TV again.
