Masterpieces In Miniature: The Detectives
Tuesday, April 11, 2006
Since the beginning of the holidays, I have been engrossed in Agatha Christie’s mystery novels. The latest edition to my collection, titled “Masterpieces In Miniature: The Detectives”, is about 4.3 cm thick. Imagine the thickness, the beauty, the addiction for a mystery fanatic like me. It’s like placing a big juicy meat bone in front of a dog, or giving Snoopy a dog bowl full of chocolate chip cookies.
It was interesting as I finally meet the rest of the detectives created the famous novelist. I was so engrossed that I forgot the existence of TV.
Parker Pyne is an detective whose job is to cure the unhappiness of people. This seems so magical and hilarious. Too bad it is only a story, I would ask him to give me a mystery to solve just like Kindaichi, a famous detective in Japanese comics.
Harley Quin is a tall, dark, mysterious man with seemingly magical powers. The stories are told through the eyes of Mr. Satterthwaite. It feels strange as I think Mr. Satterthwaite is the one who solved the problems.
Hercule Poirot is a Belgian private detective who has solved many puzzling mysteries while Miss Jane Marple is a sweet old lady and the premier crime-solver in the village of St. Mary’s Mead.
I finally finished the book in 2 weeks time.
