The Secret Adversary
This is the 1st book starring Tommy and Tuppence. They were both unemployed and decided to put an ad in the newspaper calling themselves the Young Adventurers Ltd. Tuppence was approached by a Mr. Whittington for a job and when she called herself Jane Finn, he seemed uneasy. The next day, Mr. Whittington vanished with his company without a trace.
Through Jane’s rich American cousin, Julius P. Hersheimmer, they discovered that Jane Finn had went missing for 5 years with some top secret documents. Mr. Carter employed Tommy and Tuppence to find Jane Finn and most importantly, the documents.
A older and sinister woman, Mrs. Rita Vandemeyer knew everything about Jane, and before she revealed anything, she was found dead in a locked room. Sir James Peel Edgerton, a friend of Mrs. Vandemeyer, agreed to help Tuppence too.
Who is the killer, Mr. Brown? And how can Tommy and Tuppence stop him from killing Jane in time?
