Evil Under The Sun

Mrs. Arlena Marshall, a beautiful but spoilt woman, often attracted attention of men and was loathed by woman. She was a flirt who was scared of her husband, Mr. Kenneth Marshall, who had a daughter named Linda. Linda never liked her stepmother and always wished Arlena was dead.

At the Jolly Roger Hotel on Leathercombe Bay, Arlena spent her time with a married man named Patrick Redfern. Patrick’s wife, Christine, was jealous yet she was too weak to do anything. Other guests include Rosamund Darnley, Horace Blatt, Mr. and Mrs. Odell C. Gardener, Emily Brewster, Major Barry and the famous Hercule Poirot. Among them, Rosamund was in love with Kenneth and wanted him to divorce Arlena.

The next shocking thing you know was that Arlena was dead. She was murdered. She was last seen going off to somewhere else and had told Mr. Poirot not to reveal that she was out.

Arlena was strangled by her killer, most probably a man. But with women as her sole enemies, which man had killed her? Her husband, Kenneth, inherited her fortune upon her death. A rumour about a mysterious man had blackmailed her before and her death was related to drug-trafficking spread around the hotel. And who was the person Arlena had met before her death?

Hercule Poirot investigated the case with the help of his assistant, Captain Hastings. Was this a perfect crime that he could not solve?
