Hazing
No, I am not referring to the haze in the atmosphere due to air pollution.
Recently, the topic of hazing came up when a JC student was tied up and tortured (although she was not complaining about it since it was part of a birthday bash).
This is an undesirable behaviour. According to reports in USA, many teenagers suffer from depression and even injuries or death from hazing incidents. It would be sad to see a young life being scarred or destroyed.
Hazing is part of bullying, in my opinion. I remember my secondary school classmate entered the classroom once only to discover a picture of her and comments that she was imitating Michael Jackson by trying to turn herself white. It seemed like a harmless prank that I have joined in with other classmates and she does not seem to be affected by the prank.
Alas! We discovered our horrible mistake when our form teacher entered the classroom before we could clean off our picture and was severely scolded. Although this incident happened quite some time ago, I would never get rid of guilt if I did not apologised to her then. If I am given a chance again, I would never join in this terrible prank.
Luckily, she is happy and contented with her life.
So everyone, please do not harm someone even if it is just a harmless prank. It may become the victim's worse nightmare (although my classmate was strong enough to conquer it)!
