My Colleagues in Tito Isaac & Company
I have been an intern in Tito Isaac & Company for almost 2 months. I had enjoyed my relationships with my colleagues.
Mr. Tito Isaac is the managing partner of the medium partnership. He is a busy man who is handling the case of Novena Church and Amutha Valli together with Mr. P Padman.
Mr. P Padman is one of the two lawyers I am under. He is a nice man who never scolded me despite my mistake.
Mr. Justin Chan is a fun-loving man who enjoys making me create templates for him. In fact, I followed him for hearings regularly.
Mr. Navin is a man who loves to joke and nicknamed Penguin by Mr. Niko Isaac.
Mr. Niko Isaac is the brother of Mr. Tito Isaac. He is a perfectionist who calls me “Good Girl” all the time.
Another perfectionist is Judy, a paralegal. She had graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a Diploma of Law and Management and one of the most experienced paralegals in the company.
Her good friend, Susie, is an expert in matrimonial proceedings and everyone in the company loved her cooking.
Wayne is a pupil under Mr. Tito Isaac and an intelligent guy who is health-conscious. I liked to tease him whenever I can.
Another victim of my teasing is Yi Mon, a girl from Myanmar. She teased me back (“Jan, going out with your boyfriend again”) when I joined my classmates for lunch.
Shree is Yi Mon’s good friend who had participated in a pageant. She is tall and I never seem to understand why she thinks she is short and she wears high heels all the time.
Valerie is a nice lady who taught me as much as she could. I enjoy chatting with her all the time. She will be migrating to Australia soon. *Sobs* L
Micki, who had left the company, was the first colleague I met and we are real good friends. She gives me a lot of advice in fashion and office politics and life.
That is basically the people who left a deep impression on me.

The Witness for Prosecution and Other Stories
As the blurb of the book has mentioned, The Witness for Prosecution is the most famous story written by Agatha Christie. It was made into a play and filmed twice. Its plot is ingenious and something out of the ordinary.
Besides that story, there are another 10 stories. Three of my favourites are The Red Signal, The Mystery of the Blue Jar and Philomel Cottage.
The Red Signal was a message to a group of people. A man was madly in love with his best friend’s wife and had argued with his uncle. The next thing he knew was that he was the main suspect of the murder of his uncle.
The Mystery of the Blue Jar was a supernatural phenomenon encounter of a man, a girl and a Doctor of Souls.
Philomel Cottage was a story about a woman who discovered the other side of her husband.
This was a great book as I was fascinated and never stopped reading until I finished the book.

The King of Torts
Clay Carter, a smart and intelligent young lawyer, who worked in the Office of the Public Offender for too long, and like his colleagues, dreamt of a better job in a real law firm. When he unwilling took up a case in which a young black man had been alleged to have killed a man in random, he thought it was just another ordinary case like always.
The shocking truth of the case from Max Pace startled him. One of the greatest pharmaceutical companies was involved in the so-called ordinary case. Pace offered him a fabulous deal to make enormous settlements for the victims’ families, with a large piece of the cake for him. Clay accepted it, not knowing it would change his life forever. It was a deal from the Devil, in exchange of money and fame, he would have to sell his soul.
One of the reasons I believe Clay accepted the deal was his girlfriend, Rebecca, who had abandoned him due to pressure from her parents. He wanted to prove that he did not need to depend of Rebecca’s father, a snob who tried to get him a job with better pay and wanted to control his life.
Clay began to earn a great deal of money and was able to afford a luxurious life he never dreamt of. He had set up his own law firm and recruited some of his colleagues who were given generously the profit Clay himself had made. These colleagues then left the firm after pocketing the sum of money.
The next case of the firm triggered the uprising reputation of Clay, who was known as the King of Torts. Clay was getting used to the number of cases he got for settlements and greed got to him as he swallowed one-third of the amount of settlement his clients had got.
With Rebecca married to another boring man, Clay got a model named Ridley to pose as his girlfriend at Rebecca’s wedding reception who eventually became his woman and started to spend money lavishly.
When Clay got some insider trading information from Pace again, he took up cases connecting to a new defective drug which proved to be too much for him to handle.
What lies ahead for Clay? Find out by reading one of the best novels by John Grisham and look carefully at the similarities of Clay’s life and yours.
